FALCAO OLD

I have so much to thank him for, my dear Falcao OLD. Actually he was only purchased to help me get through my junior years. No one ever dreamed that in the end he would not only take silver twice and bronze four times in the EC for junior riders but also participate in two Olympic Games, the World Championships, two European Championships and win five State Champion titles.  He’s been phenomenal and I don’t think that any other couple has ever managed to achieve so much.

My mother and I discovered this master mover in 1995 at the Elite Auction in Vechta/GER. Three years old at that time, he was initially sold to Silke Schaerffer and a year later she rode Falcao to victory in the Bundeschampionat in the class for riding horses. Even though I was only eleven years old, I tried him out – and had a great feeling on him right away.

Because of Falcao‘s passion for moving forward and his fighting spirit we gave him the nickname "Ferrari". He’s also terribly ticklish – I had to pin the tails of my coat up when I rode him and he also hates flies and other insects. But he loves to have his head rubbed with a towel when he’s sweaty.

Thanks to my father's training, we won silver twice and bronze four times at the European Championships in the class for juniors.

Falcao and I took fourth place in our very first international Grand Prix in Berlin in 2003. A year later we finished 20th overall at our first Olympic Games in Athens/GRE and 21st a year later at the European Championships in Hagen a.T.W./GER. We finished our first World Equestrian Games in Aachen/GER on 19th place in the Grand Prix and 29th overall. Our best championship result was at the 2007 EC in Italy when we finished 14th in the free-style final. Four State Champion titles in a row were added with Falcao OLD who also belongs to the sport team sponsored by the Oldenburg Verband.

Meanwhile "Falki" has been retired and he certainly deserved that although he is still regularly ridden because he wants to be with us and likes being ridden.

  • I could always rely on Falcao OLD’s willingness to perform, as you see here in Wattens ...
  • ... and also in Stuttgart
  • There were many reasons to say thank you!
  • Falki’s enthusiasm for moving forward was remarkable ...
  • ... but not always easy to regulate.
  • Walks in the park are a welcome break to catch your breath ...
  • ... after a test as here in Munich-Riem/GER.
  • An honor round in Dortmund/GER.
  • 2007 EC in Turin/ITA: Twelfth place in the Special and the Free-Style - incredible!

ORIGIN

His sire Feiner Stern won the Oldenburg main premium in 1987. Because of his double talent he was not only a highly profiled sire but also one of the most popular sires of his day. He was later sold to the US where he continued his career in breeding.

His dam St.Pr.St. Odienne is also the dam of a medium (M) level show jumper named Askari (by Akzentus). The granddam El.St. Odessa produced several successful horses: Lamarc WRT (by Leggiero) who was successfully ridden in World Cup Free-Styles by Sabine Becker, a medium (M) level dressage horse  named Forrest Gump Go (by Figaro), St.Pr.St. Odienne (by Figaro) and St.Pr.St. Okanja (by Waikato), the latter of which produced three medium (M) level dressage horses. The great granddam Ostora II produced a licensed stallion named Lac Lemon by Landadel as well as eleven other sport horses.
