Eichendorff found his calling late. For a long time, he was a pretty shy guy – or more a shy, four-legged, over ambitious character. It was hard to believe that he is a half-brother of the beautiful Moliere, who sure likes to show off.

But he has become more self-assured from day to day and from test to test and that gives him more of an aura. I am especially pleased by this change because it proves that basic, sound work and patience always pays off when you work with horses.

Eichendorff is a stallion, but you don’t really notice – not when you handle him or when he’s under saddle. Because he’s always so sensible, he’s become our “ribbon pony”. He’s allowed to collect not only his own ribbons in the awards ceremonies but also ribbons for his stable mates.

We discovered Eichendorff in the fall of 2001 at the NRW Elite Auction in Münster-Handorf/GER. He won his first tests for young dressage horses with scores above 9.0. When he was six, he won his first St. Georges tests and by the time he was seven, he competed in his first international advanced (S) level dressage tests. In 2006 and 2007 he won the series “Stars of Tomorrow” in Munich/GER and also won and placed in international Grand Prix dressage classes. The Austrian State Champion title was also among his numerous achievements in 2010.

His Rhineland branded sire Ehrentusch, stationed at the NRW State Stud in Warendorf, won his performance test in Warendorf in 1987 and was then trained to Grand Prix. More than 20 of his sons were licensed and his offspring, including Isabell Werth’s El Santo NRW, are successful in all disciplines of equestrian sport.

His dam Florence also gave birth to two full brothers: Ehrendorf, who is also licensed, and Estobar NRW, NRW Champion Stallion, top priced stallion and a winner in the short tour under Hubertus Schmidt. Florence was also bred to Münchhausen/Trakehner which resulted in the licensed Moliere, who also wins advanced level dressage classes with Victoria Max-Theurer, and Marquis Monet, who took fourth place in the 2005 Bundeschampionat under Henrike Sommer in the class for four-year old mares and geldings and now places in medium (M) level dressage with Heiner Schiergen.

The granddam St.Pr.St. Florabelle is the dam Werbespot (by World Magic), a licensed stallion, and two State Premium mares, Farina und Fiorentina (both by Ferragamo), the latter of which is the dam of the licensed Exzellenz (by Ehrentusch).

The outstanding line of Addi has produced a good number of licensed stallions such as Frühlingstraum I and II, Frühlingssturm, Argelith Quattro, Prinz Segelhorst and Bertoli W as well as internationally successful sport horses, including Amaretto, Baldessarini W, Piquet and Minister, etc.
