AUGUSTIN OLD

Well, what else can I say? Augustin OLD is simply the best. A character horse. Super talent. A wonder in rideability. A collection genius. A powerhouse. Did I forget anything? Oh yes, he’s a rascal. Anything within a radius of one meter from his mouth is not safe. Like a crocodile, he can snap so fast it’s unbelievable. I’m glad that I’m not a stuffed animal – he loves to tear them apart…

Augustin OLD was a mother’s day present. My mother wanted to have a foal by August der Starke out of our St.Pr.St. Weinrubina (by Rohdiamant), who we call “Wiener Mädel”, and she was covered naturally. It all took place exactly on Mother’s Day in the year 1999.

He’s so much like his sire in terms of appearance, quality of movement and willingness to perform and he’s also following in his tracks in sport.

In 2007, at the age of just seven, he won the Nürnberg Burg-Pokal, the unofficial German championships for seven to nine-year old dressage horses. He had also won a qualifier, the St. Georges Special of Munich/GER, with more than 75 percent. At the end of the test, Dr. Dietrich Pleva, one of the judges, commented, “As far as I am concerned, Augustin is the epitome of an outstanding youngster“.

His next milestone came in 2009: Fifth place at the EC in Windsor/GBR. In 2010, sixth place in the Grand Prix of Aachen followed. We were not able to go to the World Equestrian Games in Lexington/USA because Augustin OLD had had to be operated twice because of severe colic in late fall of 2009 and he nearly died. Ever since he recuperated, he has to be fed and exercised according to a special schedule. That wouldn’t have been possible in the usual manner while in quarantine for entry in the US and we weren’t willing to take any risks, so we stayed home.

In 2011 Augustin OLD was back on stage again and took second place in the Final of the Meggle Champions in Dortmund/GER. At the EC in Rotterdam/NED, ninth place in the Grand Prix was added. Following that we won the Austrian State Championships in Himberg-Gutenhof.

  • Augustin OLD at the World Equestrian Games in Caen 2014.
  • Where we placed sixth in Grand Prix, Special and Freestyle.
  • After taking fifth place at the EC in Windsor/GBR in 2009, we took ninth place in the Grand Prix at the EC in Rotterdam/NED in 2011.
  • My absolute darling!
  • Augustin OLD on the title page of the magazine Pferdeforum
  • But you better watch out for his mouth – he seems to have a destructive tendency and wants to crunch everything ...
  • Augustin OLD recuperated nicely from his bouts of colic and serious operations the end of 2009 ...
  • ... and returned to sport better than ever, winning various competitions in the dressage ring like the one here in Achleiten.
  • Augustin OLD is very special in his own right, ...
  • ... he’s also very special because my mother bred him ...
  • ... and because we’ve known him ever since he was born – something you don’t see very often in international dressage.
  • In 2011, a further milestone in Augustin OLD’s career was second place in the Final of the Meggle Champions Tour.
  • (Stuffed) crocodiles are Augustin’s favourite food.
  • Close to perfect: Augustin OLD`s piaffe
  • A sensation in 2007: Augustin OLD won the Nürnberg Burg Pokal in Frankfurt/GER.
  • That was the first time that this prestigious competition was won by a couple that was not German.

ORIGIN

His sire August der Starke OLD was the top priced horse at the auction in Vechta, won his stallion performance test and then collected a series of first place ribbons in the small tour with Victoria Max-Theurer before reaching Grand Prix class and qualifying for the EC.

His dam St.Pr.St. Weinrubina also gave birth to St.Pr.St. Augustina, also by August der Starke, who is the dam of the I-e premium stallion Roi du Soleil and his licensed brother Roseborough (both by Rosandro). When bred to Sandro Hit, Weinrubina produced the 2nd Oldenburg Reserve Champion Mare, Sevilla MT OLD, who meanwhile wins medium (M) level dressage tests with Victoria Max-Theurer, and also qualified for the Bundeschampionat. Sevilla’s full sister St.Pr.A. Siena OLD collects ribbons in tests for young dressage horses under Kira Wulferding. The third in this group, Saliera, received a Verband premium and is a broodmare.

The Weinperle line is also the origin of the licensed stallions Real Dream (by Rubinstein) and Cubaner (by Castro) as well as many sport horses such as Thoams Scheper’s advanced (S) level show jumper, Filius (by Futuro).
