TRAINING

There is a training schedule for each day that states who rides which horse when. This is absolutely essential because around 15 horses are ridden in Achleiten and since I also have a job, I cannot ride all of my horses every day during the week.  But with the help of my father, my mother and our trainers, everything works out just fine.  During the last few days of getting ready for a show, we adjust the training schedule accordingly. The main training days are from Friday to Monday/Tuesday and on Wednesdays and Thursdays we do a bit less.

  • We walk for at least 20 minutes with each horse to warm him up –
  • ... and if the weather allows, we go to the outdoor ring or hack in the countryside.
  • I take the time that my horses need to relax because afterward they are really supple when we start to work seriously.
  • Just like in the old days when he trained my mother, my father and master rider, Hans Max-Theurer, also trains me.
  • My father is a fantastic teacher!!!!
  • However, I don’t share his passion for cigarillos!
  • The Max-Theurer family on horseback – only my brother is missing, who prefers to go fishing.
  • A relaxing canter with Moliere
  • Wintermärchen ...
  • ... and Augustin OLD
  • Work in long reins is my father’s specialty: Sevilla OLD shows great beginnings of piaffe and passage.
  • After he has finished work, Augustin OLD is allowed to put his nose into the feed bucket - but just for a moment!
  • Our training hour ends with a long walking phase.
  • Onlookers
  • Then it’s time to take off the saddle and …
  • … take a shower if the weather is warm, although I certainly don’t want to get wet ...
  • … and in the end there’s always a treat - a carrot.
  • Since the spring of 2012, ...
  • ... Wolfram Wittig/GER has been helping us with training.
